About Us

The UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Units website has been developed by the NIHR Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre on behalf of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC).

Why has this website been developed?

There was a general consensus, both amongst research funders and research leaders, on the need to involve Clinical Trials Units (CTUs) in clinical research projects to ensure quality. There are currently 49 UKCRC Provisionally or Fully Registered CTUs. This website presents up-to-date details of all of these CTUs including how to contact them, their research areas, their experience of working with funders, and their availability for collaboration.

About the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC)

  • The UKCRC is a partnership of organisations working to establish the UK as a world leader in clinical research, by harnessing the power of the NHS.
  • One of UKCRC's key activities is infrastructure building, which includes the development of sufficient national capacity to provide the necessary expertise for the increasing number of clinical trials generated from the UKCRC and UKCRN's activities. This includes ensuring that there is sufficient infrastructure to provide high quality design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials and other well designed studies.

About the NIHR Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre (NIHR CRN CC)
